This edition of CHIKARMY Insider covers last night’s Chikara show “Chikarasaurus Rex: King of Show”, which has been confirmed as the biggest show in the history of the company. Among other exciting moments: two huge six-man tags featuring Chikara Pro talent taking on the stars of Dragon Gate, the reemergence of a certain cyborg long thought to be a figment of imagination, the announcement of the American and Chikara debut of a wrestling legend, and F.I.S.T. simultaneously kicks a member out and welcomes a new member to the family. Big thanks got to various Twitter users and Chikara101 members for little snippets of information and for a few pictures, but the biggest thanks goes to Jerome Cusson. He texted in the live results to me and even called me after the show with more info. What a guy! This event will be talked about for a very long time to come, that’s not the only thing you’ll get in this column. As a nice bonus, I’ve listed my TOP TEN Chikara vs. Dragon Gate Dream Matches for your viewing pleasure. 3…2…1…MAKE COLUMN GO NOW! *presses button*

1 Alex Colon vs.Mark Angel
-Angel did not impress me in May. His look is generic and has shown no personality thus far. About 3:30 in, Colon kicks Angel in the face twice real hard. This might have been the best moment in the match which isn’t saying much. A Michinoku Driver wins it for Colon @ 4:14. Colon looked solid here for what it was worth. Angel failed to really impress here again. -*3/4 Read the rest of this entry

CZW “Fist Fight” 5/08-10

This is the first CZW Internet PPV and was broadcast on Hybrident.tv

1. Garden State Gods vs. Irish Driveby
Jersey All Pro regulars, The Garden State Gods (Myke Quest & Corvis Fear) are making their CZW debut. We get anti-New Jersey chants from the Philly crowd. This was a very fun and enjoyable opener. Both teams make good use of counters and double team moves throughout the match. Irish Driveby gets the win @ 7:30 following tandem 450’s (Swann – standing 450, McBride – 450 off the top). *** – This match did what an opening match should do – entertain the crowd and get the show off to a good start. In lieu of our recent podcasts going over many of our favorite wrestling companies, I figured it was worth typing a column with some middle of the year awards and then an examination of the burning questions facing a number of companies. Six months into the year we’ve seen so much. A Monday Night War that fizzled out quickly. The resurrection of Ring of Honor. BDK dominating CHIKARA. Dragon Gate continuing to transform the Japanese wrestling scene while experiencing growing pains in the state. Finally the awesomeness of Pro Wrestling Guerilla. At least some things don’t change. 1) On the “Right After Wrestling” program, Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas cleared up the news circulating about the WWE banning the knife edge chop. Korderas explained that the move has actually been banned for years, back to when Ric Flair was still with the company. Only Flair and Shawn Michaels were allowed to use a knife edged chop – in fact at many events they would post “no chops!” signs at the gorilla position.
