To My Father, A Wrestling Fan
Author: Justin HoustonJun 21
. . Yesterday was Father’s Day, a day that, for many dads around the world, is a cause for celebration of the laziest kind. Some golf, a tryptophan-laden feast, maybe a movie, a new tie, and just a lot of well-deserved relaxation. For my father, the day is a bittersweet reminder of just how difficult life can be, even on a day predicated by family and happiness. My grandfather, my father’s father from whom he was given the name John, died on Jan. 13, 2009 after a long and arduous battle with cancer. This is my father’s second year without a dad to celebrate the occasion with, as well as the second in which he does not have a job. Times are tough for him and his, as they are on many of us. I’ve recently seen my bank account shrink enigmatically over the past few months, so I wasn’t able to offer anything to my pops other than company. We had a good meal after he came back from church, we raided the candy section at a local Kroger’s, shoved the loot into our pockets and made our way into the 2:25 showing of “Toy Story 3” in 3D. Just like “Wall-E” and “Up” before it, if you don’t find yourself shedding or fighting off tears at least twice, you simply don’t have a heart. We collected ourselves afterward, left the theater, quickly got out of the searing sun, and went home. I didn’t get a lot of sleep the night before, so I went home and crashed. I woke up fairly early today feeling as if I didn’t do enough for my father on His day. I suddenly remembered something that I all too often forget: I’m a freaking writer. I write for a website. My dad reads that website. So, I booted the computer, got a glass of water, gathered the leftover candy I didn’t eat at the theater, placed it in front of me, and I got to work. This is for him.

Across the CHIKARMY Insider! (The Return of Bryan Danielson)

Welcome to an exciting and shiny new CHIKARMY Insider! This week is, in LOST terms, a Bryan Danielson-centric episode. Chikara had an opening to fill in the ol’ schedule due to Darkness Crabtree injuring his hip in a nursing home accident and, as luck would have it, the WWE lost their minds and fired Daniel Bryan! So Chikara officials canceled the match between Crabs and Green Ant, called up Daniel Bryan, got transferred to Mr. Danielson, and new matches were born. The Kingston/Delirious match was broken apart and they were each given new opponents. To find out who faces “American Dragon”, click the link below, ya dingus. I warn you: reading my write-up on “AmDrag” could cause you to overdose on hyperbole. You’ve been warned. I’ve also got the full cards for next week’s shows, which look awesome I might add. No bias. Also without prejudice: Danielson truly is the best wrestler on Erf and I hope he enjoys his short stint back on the indys. It won’t last. He’ll be back to blowing the minds of viewers worldwide in no time at all. Until then, savor this moment, wrestling fans. If you asked me who I thought would come back first, Jesus to save us or Danielson to the indys…I’d have abstained. I’ve upset Jesus enough this week. To the Batcave!

Wrestlemania Countdown: Ring of Honor-All-Star Extravaganza III
Author: jrcussMar 10
In the 360 some odd days between Wrestlemania weekend 2006 and 2007, ROH defeated CZW in an epic Cage of Death. The Pure title and world title became one as Bryan Danielson took the ROH championship to new heights by taking on anyone and everyone. The month of August alone saw Danielson wrestle three 60 minute draws and cross the Atlantic to wrestle three title defenses in two shows. Danielson’s entire title reign was thrown for a loop when he separated his shoulder in the last of the three draws against Colt Cabana. Yet, Danielson lasted until Final Battle 2006 where he finally lost to Homicide. Homicide’s title reign would last just three defenses as Takeshi Morishima won the belt in just his second match. Because of Danielson’s injury and Morshima holding the title, neither would play a role on this Wrestlemania weekend. Read the rest of this entry
